General mob behavior
Mobs have modified behavior to work better in a multiplayer environment. These general rules apply to all mobs:
- Mobs cannot destroy paintings.
- Mobs cannot destroy item frames.
- Mobs cannot destroy armor stands.
- Mobs can enter vehicles such as minecarts and boats.
- Players can trample crops; however, mobs cannot.
- Players can trample turtle eggs; however, mobs cannot.
- Players can trample sniffer eggs; however, mobs cannot.
- Mobs will attack other mobs as usual unless specified.
Mob specific changes
Additionally, certain mobs have specific behavior changes outlined here:
| Mobs | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Creeper | Does not break blocks when it attacks, but will still damage players and entities in the area. Charged creepers will still spawn as normal. |
| Ender Dragon | Does not break blocks when it attacks, but will still damage players and entities in the area. Re-summon it as normal by placing four end crystals on the edges of the exit portal. |
| Enderman | Cannot pick up or place blocks. |
| Ghast | Does not break blocks when it attacks, but will still damage players and entities in the area. |
| Phantom | Only attacks players who have not recently slept. |
| Pig | Does not turn into a zombified piglin when struck by lightning. |
| Piglin | Picks up gold items dropped on the ground for bartering as normal. |
| Pillager | Spawns near outposts, but does not go on patrol groups or start raids on villages. |
| Rabbit | Eats carrot crops as normal. |
| Sheep | Eats grass and ferns and changes grass blocks into dirt as normal. |
| Silverfish | Infests blocks as normal. |
| Snow Golem | Leaves snow trails as normal. |
| Villager | Picks up items and can plant and harvest crops as normal. Does not turn into a witch when struck by lightning. |
| Wandering Trader | Does not spawn. |
| Wither | Does not break blocks when it attacks, but will still damage players and entities in the area. Use soul sand and wither skulls to summon it as normal. |
| Zombie | Does not break doors. |
